Imperial Mark Installation

4th December 2015

The first Friday in December is always a special night at Poulton Le Fylde not only is it the night that Imperial Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1276 holds its Installation, but it’s the night Father Christmas arrives in the Town Square with a parade, fairground rides and the various fast food stalls. So entering the Masonic Hall through the noise and hustle and bustle outside there was a great feeling that we were in for a good night and we were not disappointed.

After the Worshipful Master Bro. Clive Gitsham had thanked his officers, the Provincial Grand Masters Representative W. Bro. Andrew Whittle, the Prov. G. Senior Warden accompanied by W.Bro. Tony Cross the Prov. G. Junior Warden, the Lodges senior member V. W. Bro. Colin Moxey, 10 Grand Officers and acting Provincial Officers, entered the Lodge in procession.

V.W. Bro. Colin Moxey gave the address to the Master, W. Bro Tony Cross, who had acted as Installing Senior Warden gave the address to the Wardens. W. Bro Shaun Haynes the Provincial Organist left his keyboard and addressed the Overseers, then the Tyler, W. Bro. Tom Sloan, was conducted into the Lodge to give, in his own calm and serene manner, the explanation of the keystone jewel. W. Bro. Andrew Whittle gave for the first time the address to the Brethren to finish a splendid Installation in fine style.

With all officers invested, the greetings being given from the P. G. M. and cheques received for the charities there was just one other item of business to complete, to present and explain a Grand Lodge Certificate to the newest member of the Lodge Bro. Peter Whittle, who had received his craft certificate some 52 years before! The explanation was given by W. Bro. John Forster the PGM’s Special Representative.
The Festive Board had the usual buss of conversation and comradely normally found in Mark Masonic meetings, with wine takings to all who had taken part and to Bro’s Peter Maxwell, Phillip Watson and Abdul Benashour the Masters of Bispham With Norbreck, Prince Setanta and Semper Fidelis Mark Lodges.

The toast to the Master gave us information on the new masters masonic and private life, on being a London mason before moving North, Glenn is a member of many Lodges and Degrees, in his reply Glenn thanked the members and guests for all there good wishes and looked forward to a busy year.

I did notice the Lodge Secretary W. Bro. Peter Weller with a smile on his face as the evening finished, knowing that all his hard work had gone to plan nothing had been missed and everyone had enjoyed Imperial Mark Lodge’s principal night of the year.

Outside Father Christmas had gone, the rides silent, but it was still possible to get a hot dog for the ride home, to finish off a super night of Mark Masonry.
